Hello! I'm Em.
Author. Anthropologist. Folklore enthusiast. I write stories where jungle ghosts linger, cursed relics resurface, and brave women refuse to stay silent.
Born in Malaysia and now living in Canada, I use fiction as a way to reconnect with my roots and reclaim the narratives that history and colonialism tried to erase. My stories are rooted in Southeast Asian myth and memory, often exploring the spaces between worlds: where past and present blur, where silence carries weight, and where forgotten voices rise to be heard.
I’m fascinated by the threads that bind culture, identity, and storytelling. I’m especially drawn to haunted places—ruins, jungle paths, ancestral homes—and the women who move through them, searching for truth, power, and belonging.
When I’m not writing, you can find me in the Rocky Mountains with my husband and son, perfecting my teh tarik recipe, or trying to make a dent in my to-be-read pile.
